Jumping for Jesus

It was warm and humid summer evening on Friday for the regular session of the Amigos de Jesus youth group. The session began with the Rosary, outside the Hope Room, at 5:45 pm.

Following, the youth broke up into five teams of three for a good old-fashioned jump rope competition. Two groups were tied at nine leaps apiece before the more aged Alejandra, Jose, and Br. Joseph leapt in and demolished the competition with twelve consecutive jumps. Thankfully no one was injured, though Iliana came close a couple of times (see the photos).

After the session, the youth broke up into their two groups for faith sharing and reflection. Br. Joseph's group watched a slide show presentation on the history and messages of the reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Medjugorje. Alejandra's group were involved in faith sharing before beginning some unique coordination exercises.

The group rejoined in time for announcements and a final prayer. A slide show presentation of images from the evening is available below.

On Saturday, June 19, the youth attended the evening Mass at Annunciation and then had pizza and a movie at Kim's house. The movie was Bella, which had a great message on the sanctity of human life and the precious dignity of every human person. A lot of youth were present for this occasion. Thanks so much to Kim and her family for hosting the event.

Important Note: It was decided to move the Amigos de Jesus retreat to a different weekend, because too many youth were not able to make the Aug 6-8 dates. Most likely, the new dates will likely be Aug 13-15. Please let us know if these dates work for you.

God's peace to you.
Br. Joseph
