Steubenville of the Rockies

What is it? The Steubenville of the Rockies Youth Conference is an annual Catholic conference for high school youth which includes Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Scripture reflection, small group discussions, prayer, the opportunity for Confession, Catholic youth speakers from all over the country, and live music from contemporary Christian bands. Last year over 2,000 youth attended. People who have gone in the past have said that it is an incredible experience which brought them closer to Christ and the Church.

When is it? Friday, July 8 – Sunday, July 10. On Friday, youth will need to arrive at Annunciation no later than 2:45 PM. The conference will end Sunday afternoon and we will be back at Annunciation around 2:00 PM.

Conference will be at the Colorado Convention Center

Where is it? The Conference will be held at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver. The Center is located at 700 14th St. Our group from Annunciation will stay overnight on Friday and Saturday at Centro San Juan Diego, a Hispanic youth center with bathroom and shower facilities. The males and females will be in separate sleeping quarters. The center is located at 2830 Lawrence St, just a block from Sacred Heart Church.

Who is going? There are currently 15 members of the ADJ youth group attending the event and 4 adult supervisors. Only the ADJ youth and supervisors will be staying overnight at Centro San Juan Diego.

Who are the supervisors? There will be 4 adults accompanying the youth from Annunciation, Br. Joseph Elder, O.F.M.Cap., Alejandra Bravo del Toro, Jose Rocha, and Francisco Castaneda. All four work regularly with the Amigos de Jesus youth group and all have received the safe environment training “Protecting God's Children” as required by the Archdiocese of Denver.

Youth will stay overnight at Centro San Juan Diego

What do I bring? The youth should bring their own snack foods as well as cash for fast-food lunch near the Convention Center. $15-$20 should be plenty. In addition, the youth will need to bring change of clothes, toiletries (toothbrush, deodorant, etc.), a sleeping bag, pillow, and cover. Youth should also bring along a back pack to carry personal items to and from the conference.

What if there is an emergency? If there is an emergency and you need to contact your son or daughter immediately, you can do so by dialing Alejandra's cell phone. She will have it with her all throughout the conference.

How much does it cost? Under usual circumstances, the conference would cost $155 per youth, plus the cost of renting out Centro San Juan Diego. Due to a generous benefactor, however, all of these will be provided free of charge. The youth are only asked to bring money for their meals.
