In honor of Our Lady

>> Sunday, December 13, 2009

December 12 was a busy day for Annunciation Parish in Denver and for Amigos de Jesus as well. The festivities began early with the celebration of Mananitas at 10:00 am, followed by holy Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe at 11:00 am. Many of the Amigos de Jesus youth were present to honor Our Lord and Our Lady and to assist during the Mass.

Following the Mass was the procession through the streets surrounding the parish. One truck carried a young girl dressed as Our Lady during her apparitions to Juan Diego, while the other carried a large image of Our Lady of Guadalupe as she appears on the tilma of St. Juan Diego. Large crowds followed both the trucks, singing and praying as they marched in this public show of love and devotion.

A few hours later, the tireless Amigos de Jesus youth showed up to help teach and lead activities for the Capuchin brothers' Confirmation Year II classes. Following class, the youth group again assisted at the Saturday evening anticipatory Mass. A slide show of images from the day are posted below....
