Final Catechesis on Theology of the Body

>> Friday, January 29, 2010

The Amigos de Jesus youth group concluded its four part catechetical series on Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body on Friday. The catechesis was a four week presentation on creation, truth, and a Christian understanding of human sexuality.

During this fourth and final session, the youth looked at contemporary moral issues facing today's teens on a daily basis, including: sex outside of marriage, divorce, abortion, contraception, and homosexuality.

This last session saw the youth asking a lot of important questions about the Church's teachings on these key issues, how to form their consciences in accord with those teachings, and the ways in which they could better understand and communicate those teachings to friends and family members.

This was the final session in the catechetical series. Next week the youth group will return to its regular agenda.

The youth group was pleased to welcome several new and returning members this evening. We are always so happy to see new and familiar faces. You are so important to the life of the parish. The Church needs you to be strong and shining examples of authentic Christian witness.

Below is a slide presentation of images from the evening. As always, be sure to check out the Amigos de Jesus Facebook group for more photos, discussions, and news on upcoming events.

God bless you!
Br. Joseph
