A Recap of Holy Week

The Amigos de Jesus youth group met several times during Holy Week to prepare in a deep way for the Resurrection of the Lord on Easter Sunday. On Holy Thursday, the youth attended the Mass of the Lord's Supper which marked the beginning of the Easter Triduum. Afterward, a number of the youth stayed overnight at the parish for the "lock-in." This all night event began with a time of prayer before Jesus, resposed in the Blessed Sacrament. Following, the youth partook of a Seder meal in the Hope Room in order to deepen their understanding of Jesus' words and actions at the Last Supper and in the Eucharist. The night continued with movies, discussion, Scripture reflections, games, and food. By morning, both youth and youth ministers were worn out! The morning ended with the prayer of the Rosary before the Blessed Sacrament and then a light breakfast. Thanks so much to all the youth who attended and who helped to make the evening a success.

On Friday, the youth met for an hour before the beginning of a the Lord's Passion at the parish. The youth spent time in prayer and reflected on the previous night's "lock-in," in addition to talking about how their faith deepened during this Lenten season.

There was no formal meeting of the youth group on Saturday evening, but many of the youth were present for the Easter Vigil Mass which began outside with a bonfire and procession at 8:00 pm.

I can only repeat what I said to you at our Friday meeting - I am so very proud of you and of how dedicated some of you have been in the witness to your faith, in your regular attendance at Mass, in your participation in the life of the parish community, and, of course, in your commitment to walking together as Jesus disciples and friends in the youth group. Know that your faithfulness brings great joy and comfort to the hearts of Jesus and Mary!
