The Kingdom of God

>> Sunday, April 25, 2010

The theme for Friday's Amigos de Jesus session carried over from the Confirmation retreat: The Kingdom of God. The group, meeting for its regular session on April 23 in the Hope Room, began the evening with the recitation of the Rosary. It was a very frigid meeting as a rain-snow mix was falling outside and the heater was not on in the Hope Room. After praying the Rosary the youth broke up into groups for trivia. I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty confident that Br. Joseph's team won!

A passage from Scripture was read, afterward Maria and Br. Joseph each spoke about the importance of bearing witness to the kingdom of God in our day-to-day lives. The youth again broke into groups and Maria handed out several different "Dear Abby" columns in which readers had written in seeking advice in real-life situations. The groups attempted to answer these questions using the values of the Kingdom of God before hearing how "Dear Abby" replied to the issues.

The session ended with prayer and a reminder about some of the important upcoming events. Please see below (and on the Facebook) page for more information about these events. Br. Joseph and Maria took a survey of the youth asking how many would be interested in making a weekend retreat sometime this summer. The youth were almost all in favor of such a retreat, but were not sure of their vacation schedules. Therefore, please check with your parents to find out when you will be on vacation this summer and bring that information to next Friday's session so that we can find a date and book the retreat location. Thanks.

Br. Joseph
